Archive for ‘Chapter Two’

Annnnd we’re back! Okay, lots of ground to cover, so let’s get to it!
1. Mr. Burke as named above was the gentlemen assigned by the Chancellor waaaay back in Ch. 1 to perform the autopsy on the stranger who took a headshot from a snipe on page 2 of the comic.
2. I’ve been rejiggering the site a bit this weekend. The Call archive and our Videos page, along with the new Wallpapers page, have been placed into the “Extras’ parent page.
3. We’ve switched over to Disqus for our comments. Please let us know if you like it, or if you’d rather go back to the standard commenting setup.
4. We’ve revised the “About” page a bit as well and separated the Glossary of Terms into it’s own child page.
5. You may also have noticed that we’ve added credits to our header. This has nothing to do with vanity. This is something I’ve held out on for a long time because unless you’ve made a name, it generally doesn’t matter to most who the hell you are. However, since DK is content to lurk and I do all the talking, there seems to be a bit of confusion for some and I am incorrectly identified as the artist of the series. I, mean, I wish, right? Anyway, I’ve added the credits to the header to cut down on that confusion and assign credit where it belongs.
6. We have a MASSIVE backlog of unanswered emails that I’ve been needing to get to. If you’ve emailed us in the last month, you’re likely in the “queue” and I’ll try to fire a response off to you asap.
7. We’ve added a poll to the site to see what days you think we should update the spin-off comic on – please take a moment to let us know!
8. Speaking of the spin-off….I just wanted to mention that before I got sidetracked with that whole pneumonia thing, I managed to finish the first two pages. Really no reason to mention it other than I’m excited about it! Oh! And I can’t even preview them since they contain MASSIVE spoilers for The Becoming….grrr…
9. And since I mentioned that whole pesky serious illness thing, I should also mention that I am feeling pretty terrific right now – aside from the fact that I’ve been sleeping a bit too much and seem to get tired easily, but even that seems to be getting better. I should be back t0 100% in a few more days I’d think.
Okay! That’s enough jabbering, the longer it takes me to write this the longer it takes for the page to get uploaded so I should probably just shut up now, eh?

This isn’t so much an interlude as it is the real ending to Chapter 2 that had originally been cut. At the time, we just felt that with so many balls up in there air already, we weren’t sure if we needed to introduce elements that wouldn’t even be touched on til Volume 2 such as the Sentinel and the true identity of the man killed in the opening pages of this volume.
However, after some thought I realized that that was a terrible decision (we’d already setup the autopsy in ch. 1 after all and really wanted to establish that St. George had an ally) so when the time came that I needed to do a section of filler pages while DK took some time off, I decided it best to revisit this scene.
Originally uploaded in Apr/May of 2011, the pages have now been placed here to better serve the continuity of the main narrative rather than act as a poorly placed flashback later on.
That’s a wrap for Chapter 2. Thursday brings us our next chapter’s “cover” and then next week, starting our new temporary schedule for Oct. & Nov., we kick off Chapter 3 proper on Wednesday in which we’ll meet Oscar’s father.
Yeah, the dead guy.

Also starting next week, we’ll being serializing THE CALL in the blog. One strip a week, starting from the beginning. New updates will continue to appear weekly as our TWC incentive.
–
While we’re on it, yes, we DID actually update The Call last week, but I’m afraid some may have missed it as we included the previous strip above it which we didn’t realize would push the newest to little or no visibility on most monitors so it’s possible voters voted and saw the previous strip loading and exited before the new strip appeared. Starting Friday with the next strip, we’ll reduce the size a bit so more will fit on the screen all at once and you can see what’s loading right off. But for now, be sure to VOTE and read Pt. 9!

That’s it for now, hope you guys enjoyed meeting St. George, Dumas & Amelia this chapter.
