The Becoming

Finally up…I had to letter this one in a bit of a rush to try and make the deadline – which we didn’t quite manage this time out. We were about 2.5 hours later than the usual Midnight upload. Sigh. We tried though. Anyway, I’ll eventually go back and make some fixes to the balloons since some look pretty janky, but I think its mostly passable. At least for now anyway.

So, why the rush? Without getting into it too much, I’ll just say DK is soon going to be in the market for a new comp. Since I know a few creators read this comic, I’d like to take a minute and ask for some suggestions for an affordable (read: CHEAP) computer for art. I know MAC seems to be the choice of many artists, but DK and I know absolutely nothing about them, so any advice on what to look for in one is greatly appreciated.

In less depressing news, we’re about 3 weeks away from concluding our first chapter! Yeah, that may be silly to be excited about, but we’ve been living with this story and these charcters (and many more!) for a long time, so it’s great to finally be getting it out there.

And the response so far…has been awesome! The comments and TopWebComic votes have been greatly inspirational, and I cannot stress how sincere I am when I say that each and every one means a lot to us. Thanks so much for the great support! As I type this up, we’ve actually broken the top 100 at TopWebComics – something which we didn’t even consider a possibility for our first year, let alone our second month! Yeah, yeah, holding the place is a bit harder, but still, it’s cool to get up there, even if for a bit! Thanks, everyone!

Speaking of votes, (and really, you had to see this coming) I should probably mention that Part 2 of “The Call” went live yesterday. We’ve also made sure to include a brief recap for anyone who may have missed the first installment.

For those who have been reading it, how is it holding up as a vote incentive? I know the story is ungodly slow at this point, with only three panels per week, but is it at least entertaining? Worth the vote? Does the art hold up? I’m kind of on my own on this one and really have NO IDEA what I’m doing, but I hope it’s all right for what it is.
