Yvie would be lower. She was the Eastern Gate Captain when she resigned from service, whereas Dunston is the big cheese of the BDL, answering only to the Chancellor.

While on the subject of Commander Dunston, I think I’ll take the opportunity to mention that he is a very “hands off” kind of guy and the Gate Captain’s pretty much run everything – which, for example, is why Captain Belmont (Northern Gate) visited the Chancellor to inform him of the “mysterious stranger” the Snipes gunned down in the opening pages of Chapter 1. We likely won’t see Dunston much unless there is food involved or reports to file with the Chancellor – he is usually “too busy” for anything else.

Now, having pretty much indicated how utterly useless the man and his position are, I will add that there is a reason that he holds the rank of Commander and it’s something I hope to get into in the future.
